Women entrepreneurs in Beni

Economic support program for internally displaced women and survivors of violence through income-generating activities: training, seed capital, lease agreements, and six-month monitoring.
The context
In the city of Beni, many women have had to leave their villages or rebuild their lives after experiencing violence. Many have already managed a business and know what they want to undertake. What they lack is start-up capital, a place to sell, and the tools to manage their money.
What the project does
Train. Each participant undergoes practical training: cost calculation, price setting, stock and working capital management, and financial literacy.
Equip. Seed capital and, if necessary, equipment are handed over personally at the Beni office after the signing of a lease agreement in the beneficiary's name. They thus have a workspace and initial stock.
Monitor. For six months, the team provides field support for each business: coaching, bookkeeping, and early savings. A VSLA (Village Savings and Loan Association) is gradually established.

Accountability
Every form of support is handed over personally against a signed contract. The project produces a quantified report, provided to participants and financial partners alike.
This project falls under our area of work Economic empowerment of women and is based on agrifood processing for several activities.
The project in pictures

Before, I would sell whatever I could find at the market in the morning. Since the training and the start-up capital, I have a shop, stock, and a notebook where I record everything. I finally know what I earn.
